| Pro-Moulds CNC
fibre optic laser welding section is capable of handling one
off repairs to medium batch order quantities. With
precise part positioning and weld placement, Pro-Moulds
welding technology can be used for applications beyond dies
and tool-making, with the technology being suitable for
short to medium batch production of specialist components
from industries such as F1 motor sport or aerospace -
undertaking welding applications than until now have not
been possible by conventional methods.
Laser welding heats the spot
the laser is focused on to above the boiling point and a
'keyhole' is produced. Instead of heat being conducted
mainly downward from the surface, it is conducted radially
outward from the keyhole. The result is a very fine
weld with no distortion to the surrounding material.
Fine filler rods can be
used as small as 0.1mm when a build up of weld is required
to repair forms or cores. And because the weld bead is
small, the finishing or re-working required is limited thus
reducing costs. |
